The Toronto Waterfront course is about as forgiving as a half marathon gets — flat, fast, and scenic along the lakeshore. Perfect conditions for a PR attempt.
The race
Went out at 4:10/km pace and held it. The middle kilometers along the Gardiner were monotonous but efficient. The final 3K along the waterfront, with the CN Tower growing larger with every step, was pure adrenaline.
Result: 1:28:03 — a two-minute PR and my first sub-1:30.
What worked
Consistent long runs at marathon pace during the training block. Nothing fancy, just showing up and doing the work.
